Tower Hill Camp and Retreat Center is looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to serve as Site Staff for our summer programs. You will have a wide range of fun and faith building experiences in 60 wonderful wooded acres on the shores of Lake Michigan. The summer staff is in charge of the beach and water related activities, supervises the climbing tower and archery range, builds camp fires, works on construction projects, assists in the kitchen, helps with cleaning and maintaining the grounds, and more! We value employees who are able to work together as a team, have a variety of skills and gifts, and are able to work and play hard. Camp is a great place to learn teamwork and team building, leadership, and a variety of other skills that will assist you throughout your life.
The summer at Tower Hill begins with a week of training followed by 9 to 10 weeks of service, fun, and great times. A summer at camp is an excellent opportunity for college aged students to gain valuable job experience.
Desired Qualifications Any summer staff member must be willing to be a friend to everyone, will help others grow and change, and is willing to grow and change as well. You must be able to work with and welcome people of all types. You will be working with diverse people of all ages. As a United Church of Christ camp, we are open and welcoming of all people, not just those who are acceptable to mainstream America. Also, you must be able to work with and support your team mates in all aspects of the job, the fun parts and the boring parts. The minimum age to apply is 18 and some positions have minimum requirements of 21.
Certifications and Skills  Our top priorities at Tower Hill Camp are safety and personal growth. All members of site staff receive free training and official certification in First Aid, CPR, and basic water safety. Members of our staff are also trained to lead the low initiatives course, the climbing tower, and the archery range. Summer Staff also receive training in appropriate interactions with youth and interpersonal conflict resolution and in a variety of hands on skills.
For some staff, there are additional opportunities to be a lifeguard or camp health officer.
Living Arrangements While working at Tower Hill, the staff has free housing in our summer cabins. Meals are provided regularly and we receive many compliments on the quality of the food. The camp provides free wireless internet and TV to watch movies or play games during free time and comfortable meeting areas for all staff members. On your days off there is a great variety of things to do in the area.
